| Samuel "Sam" Furmick died on Tuesday at The Regency Heritage Rehab Center in Somerset, N.J. He was 88.
He was born in Rossiter, PA and had lived in New Brunswick, N.J. before moving to Milltown, N.J. in 1951.
He had been a master mechanic and chauffer for 43 years at Johnson & Johnson in New Brunswick, N.J. in the Executive Garage.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and served as an aircraft mechanic aboard the U.S.S. Lexington aircraft carrier.
Survived by his wife of 58 years, Amy Furmick of Milltown, N.J., three daughters, Karen Furmick of Euless, TX, Joy Furmick of Litchfield Park, AZ, and Jill Stadtmiller and son-in-law John of Colonia, N.J., a son, Dean Furmick and daughter-in law Sharon of Peoria, AZ, a sister Genevieve Calapa of Boston, MA, sister-in-laws Helen P. Van Cleef and Ann Phillips, 6 grandchildren, Julie, Jenny, Jessalyn, Dean, Christian and Nicole, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends can visit Sunday from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 7:00 - 9:00 pm at The Crabiel Home for Funerals, 170 North Main Street - at Riva Avenue, Milltown. A Mass will held on Monday , July 26, 2010, 9:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes RC Church, 233 N. Main Street, Milltown,. Entombment will follow at St. Gertrude's Cemetery, 53 Inman Ave, Colonia, N.J.
